A Promise and Vows Made Beneath the Ponderosa Pine Trees
from Ben_Cartwright on 04/18/2026 05:08 AMFinally, the big day was here and everyone in Virginia City turned out to be there. It was Ben Cartwright and Lynda Carter's wedding, and Ben couldn't be more excited. They had planned an outside wedding under the most beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees. Ben and the boys had been up since early that morning getting everything ready for the best wedding in all of Virginia City. And of course, Ben knew that majority of Virginia City would be there, so he had to make sure that there was plenty of everything, which meant a lot of cooking for Hop Sing, but Ben knew he would make it up to him once all of this was over. Anyway, after getting the Ponderosa ready for the biggest day of Ben's life since marrying each son's mother, each of the Cartwright men went to their own room to rest before they had to get cleaned up for the wedding. Ben stayed downstairs and for a while helped Hop Sing with a lot of the cooking. After Ben worked with Hop Sing for a while on the dinner and the wedding cake and whatever else they were having at the reception, he went into the living room with a cup of freshly made coffee and sat down in his favorite chair. Then after sitting his coffee down on the coffee table, Ben looked up at the time, and realized that he still had several hours before he had to be ready, though he knew that Adam would be going and getting Lynda a few hours before the wedding so that she could finish getting ready here at the house. Ben knew, as he was picking up his newspaper, that she was getting her hair, nails and make-up professionally done, which would take her some time. Anyway, Ben sipped his coffee and read the newspaper until he finished them both.
Ben then looked up at the clock once more and noticed that though he wasted a few hours with the cooking, reading the newspaper and drinking some coffee, Ben could tell that he still had quite awhile left to wait, which was going to drive him a little crazy, but he also knew that he could find him something to do. So, Ben went over to his bookshelf and grabbed the next book that was in line for him to read and took it and went upstairs to his room. Once he got to his room, Ben closed the door, tossed the book on his bed and then walked around the bed and sat down on the edge. He took off his boots and placed them under his bed so that he could clean them before he got himself ready. Anyway, after Ben got his boots put away, he then began to lay back on his pillow and picked up the book he chose to read and turned to the first page and began to read and let himself relax before the big event. While Ben was relaxing and doing a little bit of reading, Hoss, Joe and Adam quietly snuck out of their rooms and went quietly down the stairs and out the front door. None of them said anything until they were all three in the barn, getting the new horses they had purchased for Ben and Lynda cleaned and looking their best. Ben, however, didn't get much reading done on account of him falling asleep after only reading a few pages, which wasn't enough to actually get into the book. As Ben slept and rested, he couldn't help but dream about his life with Lynda and how the house was finally shaping up to be the perfect home, even with three grown sons, who were betrothed themselves still living with him. After a while, his dreams changed and Ben started to dream about what Lynda would look like in a wedding dress he could only imagine what it looked like, instead of what she actually picked out, which he couldn't help but get excited to see when it was time.

from Ben_Cartwright on 04/18/2026 03:12 AMThere was still a week left before Valentine's Day and Ben and the boys were excited about it. They each were making plans for the loves of their lives, but first they knew breakfast and ranch work came first before doing anything else. So, after all four Cartwright men ate breakfast, they quickly set out to work, which with Ben pitching in they knew it wouldn't take them but probably half the day to get what they needed to do done. Finally, after about a halfway through the day, the men completed what they set out to do what they had planned for the day. So they went home and after cleaning up and eating lunch, each guy then went their separate ways so that they could prepare for the most romantic holiday beside Christmas, which just happened to be Valentine's Day. While the boys were off doing their own things, Ben had taken his lunch over to his desk and as his computer was loading, he began to slowly take a couple of bites of his sandwiches. As he was chewing, Ben began to think of things that he could get Lynda, though he knew him asking her to move in and then giving her an engagement ring would definitely be hard to beat. But since she was doing all that packing, he knew she wouldn't want to fix herself anything for dinner, so he decided to book a table at the most romantic restaurant for him and her before they were all taken. Once his computer was ready for him to log in, he signed in so that he could do what he needed to do. While the compute was logging him in and loading everything, Ben reached over for his cell phone. Ben then called the restaurant that he wanted to take Lynda too, which lucky for him, had only one table left in the first seating and Ben quickly booked it. Once Ben knew that his restaurant reservation was booked and he got off his cell phone and set it aside.
Then Ben picked up his sandwich and began to take a few more bites before once again putting it down. And as he was chewing the small bites, he turned to look at his computer screen, which was now fully loaded and ready to use. Ben reached over and took a couple of sips from his coffee cup and once everything was clear from his mouth, he put the cup down and grabbed his mouse and clicked on the internet and soon Ben was looking at different items that he knew or at least thought he knew Lynda would like. As he was looking through different items, he couldn't help but think about other things to get her, like the standard roses and chocolates, though he would save that for when he went to pick her up. And then there was jewelry, which he already had given her for not only Christmas but also when he had asked for her hand in marriage. Ben knew he didn't want to be repetitive and get her more jewelry, so he decided to just keep on looking. But as he continued going through item after item, he wasn't seeing anything that really represented how he felt about Lynda, even though he knew that she would love any old thing that he got her. Ben sat back in his chair almost ready to give up when an idea hit him like a bullet to the brain. He knew this idea would probably cost a pretty penny, which he also knew he had, but Lynda was worth it and he knew Lynda would absolutely love what Ben was now planning on doing, which before he even got started, he decided to finish his lunch. Once Ben was done with his lunch and his coffee, he began to do some even more intense researching and planning, which meant Ben began to book a flight for two to Italy, hoping that Lynda had a passport. Once those tickets were booked, Ben got off his computer and began to find his own passport.
Emerald Skies and Lucky Rainbows over The Ponderosa (2026)
from Ben_Cartwright on 04/18/2026 01:06 AMIt was a beautiful Thursday morning, and the Cartwrights were just sitting down to breakfast. They were discussing the things that needed to be done as they were eating and though they had a lot to do around the ranch, Ben decided to delegate most of the work to the ranch hands because he had another job, he wanted his boys to do. He knew that St Patrick's Day was just a few days away and Viriginia City would get beyond wild, if it hasn't already. And with Lynda agreeing over Christmas to move to the Ponderosa ranch house, he didn't want her moving while all that rowdiness was going on, at least not alone. So, after discussing at length at how the work should be divided among the ranch hands, he then went onto change the subject and started talking about what he wanted his boys to do. There was a pause as Ben took a few bites of food as all three boys stopped eating to look at each other, not because they didn't want to help Lynda move but they were worried about what it was going to be like in town, which was the point that Adam brought up. Ben stopped eating for a few minutes and picked up his coffee cup and once the food was gone from his mouth, he then took a couple of sips and once that was gone, Ben began to answer Adam, Hoss and Joe's concerns about them moving Lynda while Viriginia City was being ransacked by rowdy ranch hands and drunks and god knows who else all because of St Patrick's Day, which gives them a holiday to just do nothing but drink. The first thing that Ben told him was that they wouldn't be doing this job alone and that Ben would be helping them as well. Then he went on to tell his sons that he had an idea that would help cut down on any of Lynda's things getting broke or ransacked. As the boys listened to Ben, they began finish up their breakfast and coffee.
Ben went on to tell his boys that he was going to go into town, rent a moving truck and park it back behind Lynda's house, while the boys parked their trucks in front of her house. He would leave his truck at the rental place until they were done with the truck. Then he would take the moving truck back and picked up his truck. Once he was finished talking and silence set in while all four Cartwrights finished their breakfast. Once everyone was done eating, it was Adam who finally spoke again for all three of them. He told his father that his idea was genius, and he could see them backing the truck up to the back door and loading everything quickly and without little or no trouble, which they all agreed with a huge smile on their faces. Finally, after breakfast and morning coffee was done and over with, the Cartwrights got up from the table and as Hop Sing began to clear the table, Adam, Joe, Hoss and Ben all began to get ready to head out to Lynda's house, which was just about packed, or at least they hoped it was. Anyway, once they were all ready to go, which included getting their hats and gun belts, they each got into their trucks and took off for Lynda Carter's house. As Ben was following his sons into town, he decided that it would probably be a good idea to call Lynda and let her know that they were on their way and that the boys would be there to help with any packing that she had to do, and that he would join everyone just as soon as he got a moving truck. So, Ben pulled over on the side of the road and pulled out his phone. Then, after going to his contacts, he found Lynda's name and then hit the call button. As her phone began to ring, he placed his phone on his shoulder and then after making sure that nothing was coming, put his truck in drive and headed back onto the highway and towards Virginia City and towards Lynda's house.
A Cowboy’s Christmas Wish Brings Love to the Ponderosa (2025)
from Ben_Cartwright on 04/17/2026 10:19 PMIt was another cold and lonely night. Ben was missing Lynda something awful and even though he knew she was just in town, it really wasn't the same. There was still two weeks before Christmas and he knew that he and his boys would soon be working on getting the Ponderosa ranch house ready for its annual Christmas party. But there was one thing that Ben hadn't done yet and that was find something extra special for Lynda. As he was sitting at his desk going through different contracts for the new year, he couldn't help but let his mind wonder back to what he could get Lynda. Ben put down the contracts that he was looking at and sat back in his chair and began to look around the house. And though there wasn't any Christmas decorations up yet, Ben knew that wasn't what was really missing. It was the sound of a woman, more specifically Lynda, moving about the house and distracting him from his work, which was one thing that Ben really loved. It was at that moment that Ben realized what he needed to do and what he could get for his beloved Lynda. He was going to ask her to move into the ranch house and become an official member of the Cartwright family, though he would get her an engagement ring at a later date. Ben couldn't help but smile at the thought of Lynda moving in for good, though he realized he would have to talk to his boys first, though he knew that his boys would absolutely love the idea. And again, that made Ben smile even more. Ben finally let out a sigh of relief that he finally figured out what he could get Lynda, though deep in his mind, he knew that wasn't enough, but it was a good start.
Ben went back to looking through the contracts that were on his desk. He knew his boys were in town doing their own Christmas shopping and seeing the ladies that each one was betrothed to. So, Ben decided he would go into town himself and not only do his own Christmas shopping but maybe swing by and see his beloved Lynda and take her out for a late lunch and early dinner and then see where the rest of the night took them. So, once Ben had the contracts put away safely in his top desk drawer, Ben got up from his desk and went upstairs to his bedroom, where his wallet and keys were, which he also knew he needed a coat, so it was a good thing those things were up there. Anyway, After Ben got to his room and cleaned himself up a little and then after grabbing his wallet and keys, he went over to his closet and got his coat. And after putting it on, he grabbed his wallet, putting it in his back pocket and then grabbed his keys and was soon walking out of his bedroom, closing the door behind him. Ben then went down the stairs and out the door, once again closing the door behind him and went to his truck. It wasn't long before Ben was on his way to town and as he was driving he started thinking about what he was going to get everyone for Christmas, starting with Lynda, even though he knew that he had the perfect gift figured out, he knew it wasn't enough. He already knew what he would get his boys and Hop Sing, though he did want to shop around first to make sure he was getting the right thing for each one. As Ben was coming up to the city limits of Virginia City, he couldn't help but hum a happy tun as he was heading to the one place he wanted to go to first, which was Lynda's house.

from Ben_Cartwright on 04/17/2026 06:25 AMWhile Lynda was shopping, Ben was in the shower getting himself clean and ready for the most romantic anniversary night of Lyda's life. Once he was finished in the shower and was drying himself off, he began to think about what Lynda was planning and when she was going to do her plan, though deep down he knew that she would probably wait until he least expected it, though he was looking forward to whatever she was planning. But tonight, it was going to be all about her and how she had changed his life and brought the love of a woman into a house that was missing it. Once Ben was dry, he put his robe on and went downstairs and to the door, opened it up and checked to make sure that Lynda hadn't come home yet, which she hadn't and then after closing the door, Ben headed into the kitchen with a huge smile on his face. While in the kitchen, he began to speak to Hop Sing about what he was fixing for the romantic meal. Hop Sing said he was fixing one of Lynda's favorites, which was chicken fettuccine alfredo, with a twist of Asian flare to it. He also told Ben that he was making some fresh Italian love bread, with once again and Asian flare to it. Ben said everything was sound good so far and went on to ask Hop Sing was making for dessert, which Hop Sing told Ben that he had made earlier that day the best chocolate dipped strawberries in Nevada. Lynda wouldn't be able to resist Ben then once she tried one of Hop Sing's strawberries. Ben said that sounded good and he knew that Hop Sing would do a great job finishing it up. Hop Sing smiled and nodded as He watched Ben leave the kitchen.
After leaving the kitchen, Ben went back upstairs to finish getting himself ready. As he was putting on his best clothes, he began to think about when and how he should propose to Lynda. He already knew that during dessert would be the perfect time to surprise her with the necklace and matching earrings, which he knew she would absolutely love. But deciding when to pull out the best present, which was the engagement ring and drop to one knee, was a whole other story. Then an idea came as he finished up with his pants and moved onto his shirt. He would take Lynda outside after dinner and they would walk slowly in the moonlight until he found the most romantic spot he could think of, which he knew the perfect spot. And that's where he would get down on one knee and ask his longtime friend and now the love of his life if she would do the honor of being his wife for the rest of his life. Ben smiled as he slipped into his shirt and began to button up his shirt, he couldn't keep from smiling. He and Lynda Carter had known each other for years and even though they had fallen in love years ago, it just simply wasn't meant to be at least not at the time. But now, Ben knew there was nothing that could keep them apart this time. Once Ben was finished with buttoning his shirt, he combed his hair and put on some aftershave that Lynda really loved. And once all that was done, he looked at himself in his full-length mirror with a smile on his face. When Ben was satisfied with the way he looked, he went over to his dresser drawer, grabbed the two gift bags, closed the drawer and then headed back downstairs, closing their bedroom door behind him. Once Ben was back downstairs, he went over and put the two gift bags into his desk drawer. And then he looked at the time and knew that Lynda would be home at any minute, so he decided that if he was going to do any decorating, he better be getting it done, which was exactly what Ben did. And when he was done, he smiled at his work, knowing that the Ponderosa Ranch house never looked more beautiful as it did right now.
Aged Old Friends Brings a Love of a Lifetime

And Ben even had Lynda moved in and living with him and the boys, which didn't bother the boys at all. In fact, seeing their father happy was the one thing that made Adam, Joe and Hoss very happy. But there was something that Ben wanted to do, which he had already talked to the boys about it and they were overjoyed with it. So, while Lynda was in town doing some business for a plan she had, Ben went into the kitchen and began to speak to HopSing about him fixing Ben and Lynda a nice picnic lunch for them. HopSing said he could come up with something with a smile on his face. And as Ben turned to leave the kitchen, he stopped a moment and turned back to HopSing. Ben told HopSing to go to his wine cellar and get two bottles of his best wine and put both in the fridge. HopSing nodded, knowing that Ben was taking one bottle with him and the other was probably for celebrating. Ben nodded back happily and then left the kitchen and went back to his desk.
Ben looked at the time and knew that Lynda would be coming home very soon, so he had just enough time to get the engagement ring that he had gotten her once upon a time, and a couple of other beautiful jewelry that he also bought her at the same time he bought the engagement ring. But to do that, he would have to go upstairs to his bedroom, which is where he kept those treasures. So, Ben went up to his room and closed the door behind him. And once he had his door closed, he went right to work on getting the jewelry ready to go. Once he had those in their boxes and all boxes wrapped neatly, he placed them in a nice bag and then sat the bag on his dresser where he knew he wouldn't forget them. Then Ben decided to take a shower and get himself cleaned up a little bit. He wanted to look his best for Lynda and for when he finally asked the love of his life to be his wife.
